Adam Wolk

Adam worked for Kaiser Permanente in Portland OR, Inova Health in Fairfax VA, and at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) in Washington DC, where he managed hospitalist programs and led various quality and safety initiatives. He moved to North Carolina in 2014 to take a job as the state medical director for Alignment Healthcare, a start-up population health management firm that is partnered with the University of North Carolina (UNC). After 10 years at Alignment, Adam was appointed CEO at Transitions LifeCare, a large non-profit palliative/hospice agency based in Raleigh, NC. 

 

Adam was raised in Davis, CA, son of a law professor and local/state politician. He left home for Colby College in Waterville, Maine (class of 1997), got his MD from the University of California Davis (class of 2003) and completed his residency and chief residency at MGUH (2007). He lives in Chapel Hill with his wife (Io) and four kids (Audrey, Isabel, Max, and Grace).

 

When he is not nursing various orthopedic injuries, Adam enjoys working out with F3 (cross-fitness program) and running long distance relay events (Blue Ridge and Great Allegheny Passage Relays). He is an active fundraiser for the Malawi Children's Initiative (a 501c3 that provides pediatric healthcare infrastructure in Malawi). He is also enrolled in the UNC Gillings Doctor of Public Health Leadership Program (DrPH).
