Catherine Hamel
Ms. Hamel has over 35 years of experience leading healthcare organizations. She joined Gilchrist in 2008 as Chief Operating Officer, became its Executive Director in 2010 and was named President in 2015. Gilchrist is the largest provider of serious illness, hospice and palliative care services in Maryland serving over 26,000 patients annually. During her tenure, the organization was awarded the prestigious Circle of Life Award by the American Hospital Association and she served on the health system’s leadership team that won the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award in 2019. Ms. Hamel serves as the health systems Chief Strategy Officer and leads the hospitals Community Benefit work. Prior to her work at GBMC, Ms. Hamel served on the founding leadership team for a local home infusion company that was acquired by a national market leader. She led the Managed Care Strategy for Columbia-HCA nationally. Ms. Hamel serves on various community boards including community-based organizations and industry trade associations. Ms. Hamel received her bachelor's degree from Temple University and her Masters in the Management of Aging Services from University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
