Debbie Shumway

Chief Executive Officer Debbie Shumway has devoted more than 30 years to advancing Hospice of the Valleys nonprofit mission: Bringing comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to the community. She helped the organization grow from serving 140 patients per day in 1994 to over 7,000 patients daily who receive home-based primary care, palliative care, dementia care and hospice services. Under her leadership, the agency opened an innovative Dementia Care and Education Campus to support families caring for a loved one with dementia and train a dementia-capable workforce. Debbie actively collaborates with healthcare partners to expand programs with a strong focus on excellent patient care. She attributes Hospice of the Valley ranking third in the nation for quality care to its service-oriented culture, an outstanding leadership team and a dedicated, compassionate workforce that prioritizes patients and families. Founded in 1977, Hospice of the Valley is the only nonprofit hospice in Maricopa Country and is committed to serving all in need, regardless of financial circumstances. Last year, the organization provided $17.7 million in charity care services.
