Amir Hamad, MHA, BSN, RN, CCRN
Amir Hamad is a healthcare executive with more than 20 years of experience in clinical and administrative leadership. He currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Alive, Middle Tennessee's only nonprofit provider of hospice, palliative care, and end-of-life services, a role he assumed in June 2025.
Hamad's healthcare journey began at age 15 when he became an EMT. He earned his paramedic certification while pursuing his education and then graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Radford University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Arkansas Grantham.
Prior to joining Alive, Hamad served as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West, where he oversaw more than 1,800 employees and managed nursing operations and quality for one of Tennessee's top acute care hospitals. During his tenure, he partnered with Marian University and Trevecca Nazarene University to open the Advanced Clinical Learning Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed to address the nursing shortage and train the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Before his time at Ascension Saint Thomas, Hamad built his leadership credentials through progressive roles across multiple HCA Healthcare facilities. He served as Chief Nursing Officer at Parkridge East Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and as Associate Chief Nursing Officer at Reston Hospital Center in Reston, Virginia. Earlier in his career, he held director-level positions overseeing cardiac and medical intensive care units at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, drawing on his clinical background in emergency medicine and cardiac critical care.
Hamad is actively engaged in academic and community service, and previously held advisory board positions at Trevecca Nazarene University and Belmont University. He first joined Alive's Board of Directors in June 2024 before being selected as CEO. His appointment came as Alive celebrated its 50th anniversary, which is marked with rich history as the organization was the first hospice established in the Southeast and the third in the nation when it was founded in 1975.
